Violet Eyes

This diploid variety produces small to medium size, round, violet tubers with white eyes and white flesh. It flowers profusely for a long period and could be used for ornamental purposes as well as for eating.

6 tubers.

• Dormancy: 4-5 weeks

Storage until planting: keep in a dark place until ready to plant, but if they start sprouting earlier, place tubers in a bright place. The light will stop the sprouts from growing too much. Plant 3-5 weeks before you expect your first frosts to finish. I plant mine in September here in southern Victoria. Please note that potatoes grown over the heat of summer produce less, and smaller, tubers than those grown in spring.
