Verdi

This tetraploid variety produces medium, lumpy tubers with a light violet skin and white flesh.

Best for boiling or mash but has a poor flavour with a touch of bitterness. I am only offering it for genetic diversity but I don’t think it is worth eating.

• Dormancy: 4 weeks
• Storage until planting: keep in a dark place until ready to plant, but if they start sprouting earlier, place tubers in a bright place. The light will stop the sprouts from growing too much. Plant 3-5 weeks before you expect your first frosts to finish. I plant mine in September here in southern Victoria. NOTE: potatoes grown over summer produce less and smaller tubers than those grown over cooler weather in spring. This is normal.
