This diploid variety is fast growing and will produce two crops in a season (even three if you don’t get frosts). It has a low dormancy but will still hold from the end of the second harvest till planting at the start of September if kept in a dark, dry spot.  A good producer for a diploid.

The flesh is cream coloured and the skin is thin so it does not have to be peeled (luckily as the eyes are too deep for easy peeling). The tubers are often all red if the soil in summer is very hot.

6 Small to medium tubers.

Dormancy: 3 weeks

Storage until planting: keep in a dark place until ready to plant, but if they start sprouting earlier, place tubers in a bright place. The light will stop the sprouts from growing too much. Plant 3-5 weeks before you expect your first frosts to finish. I plant mine in September here in southern Victoria. See ‘storage’ page for tips on overwintering tubers.

Please note that potatoes grown over the heat of summer produce less, and smaller, tubers than those grown in spring.
