This tetraploid variety produces small size, round, purple tubers with white eyes and cream flesh with purple flushing. It is wonderful for making into a creamy, great tasting mash – but the mash is a speckled blue/black/yellow colour which may put people off.
The tubers are small but I suspect that they will be quite a bit bigger in soil that is better than my very low quality sandy soil. This plant produces quite well.
5 small tubers.
Storage until planting: When you receive your tubers keep them in either the paper bag or an egg carton until you are ready to plant (plant 3-4 weeks before you expect your last frost in soil that is not waterlogged). Check them every two weeks and if they start to sprout open the box or carton and place in a bright spot near a window. The bright light will keep the sprouts small.
